Ran into these things on a local electronics store run. They were released in Europe a few months ago, but have finally made their way to the states. They are DJ style headphones that combine elements from some of the other headphones in the Beats line to create something different and better. They have a matte finish so no more fingerprint magnet issues with the finish (and no more microfiber cloth wipes needed at all). They have a foldable design so you can listen to one earpiece separately (DJ'ing). The Mixr's also have a second 3.5mm jack so you can either have the cord in one or the other or daisy chain multiple headphones together from one source output (iPod, iPhone, deck etc.). The hugest deal for me was the fact that these things finally come with a hardshell case, for the price you pay for them (9.99), you would hope they have good case protection. No more "ski cap" type pouches that protect essentially nothing. Right out of the box you'll notice that the design is unique but that fingerprint attracting high gloss finish is here again! I guess this is why they include a microfiber cloth (and you'll be using it a lot to wipe off those fingerprints). One of the huge things you'll notice is GUESS WHAT!? they include a hard shell case to protect your investment. These are not inexpensive headphones by any means (Retail 9.99) so it's nice to include something that you can carry them in without worrying you'll crush them to oblivion. The audio cables included are the tangle-free type (flat) and seemed very durable. I especially like the in-line remote on the second cable as it felt a lot more sturdy than those of other headphone lines. One definite unique feature that I stumbled upon (and the manual actually helped explain to me) is that you have a badge glow button hidden in the headband area to make the sides of your headphones glow with a whitish hue. Pretty sweet looking and it'll definitely standout if you're out and about at night. Audio quality was decent, much more flat than those of the Beats line (which I actually prefer), but the added benefit was that the noise cancellation aspect was also pretty good. Not quite as good as the Bose QC15's ...

The idea of "burn-in" is still a myth to me. Cons: - The earcups do not swivel (see 1st pro below) - Earpads might be too small for some people - Earpads tend to warm up - Cable microphonics (you can hear the cable noise if the cable brushes on your shirt) - Fabric cables tend to be stiff and are not as pliable as rubber-coated cables - For home listening the bass might be a bit too much - Midrange is slightly held back from the overall presentation (they're forward, but not in-your-face forward) - Initial drum and cymbal hits don't have very much impact (probably due to V-MODA decreasing some of the treble peaks that cause fatigue) - The cable entries on either earcup are deep and narrow, so some headphone cables won't fit - All metal parts are prone to fingerprints, but they are not nearly as obvious to see as on glossy plastic and are easy ...

As a competitor to the Beats by Dre line, they are trying to get that sleek look while also trying to have decent audio quality. First impressions are that they already have a better build quality than the comparable Beats line of headphones, and GUESS WHAT they actually include a hard shell case to store them in, not one of those useless ski cap looking pouches which pretty much protect nothing. They do include comparable accessories as well like a straight through audio cable, control talk cable, microfiber cloth to wipe up all those fingerprints that these headphones will attract, a 1 adapter for plugging into high end decks and devices, and lastly a hard shell case with a utility clip (not sure why'd you ever use it though).
