Never turn the turntable upside down without any type of cushion under underneath it you could damage the tone arm, and be careful if youre using the turntable dust cover to support the turntable whilst its upside down the plastic they are made from is very brittle.

Jupiter -- part 1 of 2 (1st draft) I ran across some amazing audio recordings on YouTube made by NASA's Voyager I & II probes as they swung close to Jupiter in 1979. The recordings are of Jupiter's magnetosphere and the surrounding solar wind, which have frequencies extending through the human auditory range (20Hz to 20kHz). I find these recordings quite haunting and beautiful, and decided to perform an experiment in which the Jupiter audio is gradually replaced by my own looped vocalizations. This composition is definitely influenced by the music of György Ligeti (see "Atmospheres" here: www.youtube.com ) plus definitely some looping and improvisational sensibilities borrowed from Robert Fripp (see "Frippertronics" here: www.youtube.com — appropriately dating from 1979 as well). In this twenty-minute ambient piece, you hear the original NASA recordings by themselves for roughly eighty seconds, at which point I begin to fade in the first of three vocal loops. The remaining vocal loops fade in and grow in intensity over the next several minutes. By the ten minute mark (halfway), the original NASA recording fades out completely so that •everything• you hear beyond this point is produced purely by my human vocalizations. In addition to my singing, various ambient noises are introduced, including a low frequency rumble produced by lightly blowing on the pickup element of a condenser microphone (these microphones have remarkable low end response characteristics). Hardware The Headbanger chat headset comes in two different versions a standard white one that matches the Wii and a Call Of Duty Black Ops edition which comes in black with the Call of Duty logo and this is the version that we are going to review. The headset is made of all plastic with a rubber earpiece and has a solid feel to it. It comes with a 10 ft cable and comes in handy with since it needs to plug into the back of the Wii. The long cable gives enough slack so it doesn't just hang in the air and you don't feel constricted down if you move around a bit. It comes with a long plastic piece at the end of the cable which I feel is a bit to long at the end. While it is very sturdy I would worry for those who keep their Wii out in the open and could possible trip and break it off in the Wii. I think just a quarter of the size would work and would give more cable space The headset is left ear only so hopefully you are comfortable with that because you can't swap it. It does fit comfortable over the ear and the mouth piece will rotate up and down with easy and you can control the volume with the dial wheel which is on the side on the headset. My materials: - superglue -qtip -scissors -pocket knife Please use caution if you try this method. Wayward superglue in your computer certainly isn't helpful. Be careful. Also, this was done on a Mac Book Pro. Laptops, and maybe macs in particular, are so compact that many of the internal components are connected together. When one part needs to be replaced, it may be connected to other parts that are working just fine. --------------- Transcript: This is a pretty cheap way to do this. It may void warranty, it may wreck your computer. It's risky but if you want to save a lot of money, I recommend it. You will need a scissors, a pocket knife, a qtip, and some superglue. First, cut off the end of a qtip so it looks like this. Secondly, depending on the shape of the piece of headphone jack in your port, you may need to bore out some of the qtip. I did this because there was a part of the stuck piece that protruded out. I bored out the center of the qtip with the pocket knife. It gave a little more surface area for the super glue. To follow this tutorial, you need to have Duet 2, Mac OS 10.6.7 or greater, and Logic 9 Open Logic and create a new session. The Patriot Box Office (PBO) is a portable media player that will play a variety of media files from a network, USB drive or internal Hard Drive. I bought this to replace a dead XBOX with XBMC that was used to play movies, TV shows and music streamed from my PC. The PBO costs as little as .99 (much less if you look around and include the mail in rebate) and at this price I was actually a little curious, even concerned with what it would be like. After seeing a few reviews including a 4/5 avg star rating from 255+ reader reviews on Newegg I figured it has to be decent at the least! The PBO is very small and portable and when I took it out of the box for the first time I was floored with the build quality. The unit is actually cased in a very thick, solid brushed aluminum enclosure. The PBO has a variety of I/O options. First and foremost it has the all important network jack. This is the most important feature for me as I intent to share the large media collection off my PC. It's also got not 1, not 2, but 3 total USB ports! Two of the USB ports are for plugging in external hard drives, jump drives or a USB wireless adapter. Because there are two full sized USB ports you can plug an external drive AND a wireless adapter at the same time! The 3rd mini USB port is for accessing an optionally installed 2.5" SATA Hard Drive.
