This is how I record my LP's. Yep. I also go into quite a bit about editing the videos/sound in Movie Maker, but even then I didn't cover everything. This is an unusual way to record, and I can't promise that it would work on just any computer, since the files come out to be pretty enormous in size. Plus, RecordPad is not free, although it does offer a 2-week trial period if you want to try it. You can get it here: www.nch.com.au I had a little de-sync'ing issue, it starts about five minutes in, but it doesn't get progressively worse; it's just off by about a second. Just thought I should warn you. It's still easy enough to follow what I'm doing, I just hope I'm not insulting anyone's intelligence here. I'm a complete dummy when it comes to computers. But you never know how much people know about things, so I just kind of assume the worst and go from there. A couple of the important things I forgot to mention was that when recording an NES game with FCEU Ultra, it's pretty much exactly the same as recording with Snes9x, just drag File to Record AVI and you're golden. The only difference is that on NES games, you can actually hear the sound as you're recording. One other thing is that in Movie Maker, I often have to lower the sound of the video game to about half or 1/4 of its original volume, since the voice recording is barely audible next to it otherwise. To change the volume of the video, click on the video and drag "Clip" to "Audio" to "Volume" and you can lower it there.

One of the huge things you'll notice is GUESS WHAT!? they include a hard shell case to protect your investment. These are not inexpensive headphones by any means (Retail 9.99) so it's nice to include something that you can carry them in without worrying you'll crush them to oblivion. The audio cables included are the tangle-free type (flat) and seemed very durable. I especially like the in-line remote on the second cable as it felt a lot more sturdy than those of other headphone lines. One definite unique feature that I stumbled upon (and the manual actually helped explain to me) is that you have a badge glow button hidden in the headband area to make the sides of your headphones glow with a whitish hue. Pretty sweet looking and it'll definitely standout if you're out and about at night. Audio quality was decent, much more flat than those of the Beats line (which I actually prefer), but the added benefit was that the noise cancellation aspect was also pretty good. Not quite as good as the Bose QC15's ...

Some terms I used that might have been unclear in the tutorial: balanced tracks: The song has good levels of bass, mids and lows. referencing: listening through the speakers balanced mix: I refer to the space/volume balance. More info - bit.ly In the third and final installment of our video tutorial series on Moog's Animoog iPad app, Dubspot Instructor Matt Cellitti offers sound design and production tips and tricks and shows you how to use Animoog in a Digital Audio Workstation. The final installment of the Animoog tutorials will hopefully give you a few more tricks on how to create some really cool sounds in this great app. Once you have created an interesting sound with a unique path, I will show you how to "stretch" the orbit across your path to create thick sounds, triggering multiple timbres at once for radically transforming sounds. Moving the path around the X/Y axis will allow you to essentially create several different presets inside of one saved sound. I might start with a slow pad if I begin in the top left corner, yet morph to a sharp lead sound by pulling the path down to the bottom of the Y axis. Lastly, it is important to realize that the signal coming out of the iPad/iPhone headphone jack comes in at a lower volume level than we would like. Simply use some effects inside of a DAW or other host program to boost the signal and create more interesting effect chains for Animoog. Set up an effect chain just once and save it for instant recall when you need it again. Works great in both Live and Maschine. - Matt Cellitti
