TRANSCRIPT AT THE BOTTOM! This is a how to video for fixing a headphone jack with a broken off cord stuck inside. My wife's laptop had the tip of a 1/8" cord stuck in the headphone jack. This tricked the computer into thinking there was an actual output device connected to it. This then prevented any sound from going in or out of the port. My materials: - superglue -qtip -scissors -pocket knife Please use caution if you try this method. Wayward superglue in your computer certainly isn't helpful. Be careful. Also, this was done on a Mac Book Pro. Laptops, and maybe macs in particular, are so compact that many of the internal components are connected together. When one part needs to be replaced, it may be connected to other parts that are working just fine. --------------- Transcript: This is a pretty cheap way to do this. It may void warranty, it may wreck your computer. It's risky but if you want to save a lot of money, I recommend it. You will need a scissors, a pocket knife, a qtip, and some superglue. First, cut off the end of a qtip so it looks like this. Secondly, depending on the shape of the piece of headphone jack in your port, you may need to bore out some of the qtip. I did this because there was a part of the stuck piece that protruded out. I bored out the center of the qtip with the pocket knife. It gave a little more surface area for the super glue.
